Casa Caribe 2014 Review

by Lydia Linton Pontius  (Dec. 2014)

Casa Caribe is a wonderfully quaint, boutique Bed and Breakfast located in the seaside village of Puerto Morelos just south of Cancún. It has just a few rooms and each one is beautifully decorated and very clean. With the breeze from the ocean just a block away, there is no real need for air conditioning. Each room has its own balcony or porch, and the back of the building has a lovely area for sitting and sunning. The front of the area has a gorgeous garden setting and comfortable seating, as well as a dining area.

This is also home to The Little Mexican Cooking School and they have a lovely gift store with some wonderful local gifts. I love that they have a section to peruse information about what there is to see and do.

The rooms are large and have a fridge, table, TV, and DVD player with LOTS of movies in the gift store to borrow. The balcony is a nice size for sitting or enjoying the hammock. The bathrooms are spacious and the showers have plenty of power.

The location is wonderful and, with a bike to borrow, you have no need to rent a car if you want to spend your time in Puerto Morelos. You are a quick walk to the gorgeous beach which has some of the widest, longest stretches of white sand to walk. Close to Cancún but nothing like it, this really feels like Mexico's Caribbean coast. Also close is the cancha, or square, like those found in small villages throughout Mexico. And you have a huge variety of restaurants and shops from which to choose.

Traveling at low season, I did not have the opportunity to participate in The Little Mexican Cooking School but it is on my bucket list for next time. Spending some time talking to both Cat, the owner, and Lisa, the manager, I am convinced that Puerto Morelos is where Sac-Be needs to spend more of its time!
