My love for the Yucatán began over 28 years ago, when our family invested in Kailuum, a luxury camping resort, near Playa Del Carmen. There were countless vacations with the whole family, and during these trips, my heart and soul surrendered completely to this magical, spellbinding part of México. Each vacation created a meltdown at the end, since I never wanted to leave.

In 2002, after my children were grown, the pull of the Yucatán continued, so I packed up my things, left Texas, and volunteered with CEA for several months, immersing myself in the sea turtle program and participating in other volunteer opportunities, including advocacy of local artists, and projects with the children of the Pueblo, teaching art.

Living in the CEA dorms was a beautiful and life-changing experience. I met, and secured lifelong friendships with, young people from all over the world, sharing their energy, enthusiasm and ideas of protecting Mother Earth.

I currently live in Akumal Pueblo, and continue to write stories of my experiences and impressions of my life here.

As a professional photographer for the past 30 years, I have listened as my artistic side beckoned me into other creative areas. I am currently developing a line of aromatherapy products, under the name "Mayabreeze," and am involved with the construction and operation of a jungle temazcal.

A Web site is yet to be developed, but I do maintain a current ad in Sac-Be.
