Did You Know?

We are starting a new section, this is for new, old and locals – it has been mentioned many times that people want to know about new places to go, whether it is an all-inclusive with a new day spa, a new restaurant, or a new tour. This month a regular visitor to Akumal and Playa Caribe condo owner, Myrna Sparks suggests you check out Selva Maya. Please be sure to submit your great finds.

Selva Maya

A very exciting, new and refreshingly un-commercialized soft adventure eco-tour SELVAMAYA, has recently been added to the many great eco-excursions that we all love in the Riviera Maya. The tour begins in Akumal and you will go the short distance on the jungle road to Rancho Santa Cruz either on horseback, van or bicycle.

Ruins of Muyil

The two names Muyil and Chunyaxche are used interchangeably for this ancient place. It is named after the two large inland lagoons that separate the site from the Caribbean Sea. These existing buildings, from the Mayapan period, were built between 1250 and 1550 AD.

Buying a home in Mexico: Are there any deals left

For some Americans and Canadians, Mexico has been home for more than 20 years. These are the lucky few who got “in” before Mexico became mainstream. For all the others, myself included, we are only now looking at our neighbor south of the border, wondering if we could do it too. Last January, having read the New York Times article on Merida, I gathered some friends to discuss a purchase in the white city.

Timeshare Resales in Riviera Maya Many frequent vacationers are looking for an economical and long-term solution to their accommodation dilemma.

Travel Concepts
Group Travel to the Riviera Maya

If schedules and precision are what you are looking for take your group to Disney Land. But if you're looking for something a lot more meaningful, consider the Riviera Maya with a personal touch. Get your group involved. Let students meet students - like a soccer game between local Akumal school kids and a Spanish class I brought down from Pennsylvania. Let adults volunteer for short duration projects with local non-profits. You get the idea. The sights are great, but the people are even better.

Last fall, construction began on the Puerto Aventuras Childcare Center (Guaderia y Ludoteca), which will serve over 100 children from 45 days to 3 years old and will provide an after-school program for an additional 40 youngsters between the ages of 6 and 12 years.

Dozens of students in Puerto Aventuras have been given the opportunity to attend high school thanks to P.A.A.E., an education program that has supported the community since 2001.

As part of a new Puerto Aventuras Three Kings Day tradition, some 100 food and gift bags were distributed in January to particularly needy families in the pueblo this holiday season.
