Happy New Year! 2012 is a very exciting year. December 21, 2012 is an important date for the Maya; it marks the end of the Long Count, a 5,125-year cycle of the Maya calendar, and the world’s transition into a new era. Many believe this to be a very special and spiritual era that we are heading into. In that same vein Sac-be's Goal for 2012 is to Promote and Protect this amazing part of the world through an emphasis on Sustainability and Education. By sharing a vast and eclectic mix of articles, we can show people how unique and fragile this area is and also inform them of the many great causes that are here working hard to assure the natural resources and culture of this area will be around for generations to enjoy.

We hope to increase our contributor base and add even more wonderful writers and reporters to our site. We are committed to increasing our reach as well as our readership. How can you help us achieve our goals? By spreading the word about us on Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and our Web site and by letting people know about our advertising opportunities. Our site and newsletters are 100% funded through our advertising dollars - the more people who advertise with us the farther our reach can be.

Help Tierra de Animales with the construction of their quarantine area for incoming sick, abused and injured dogs! Tierra de Animales sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates the forgotten and neglected dogs of the streets of Cancún and Playa del Carmen. Many dogs that are rescued arrive with injuries and illnesses, and need to have a quarantined area in which to heal and recover. With more than 160 dogs to care for daily, Tierra de Animales needs your help to finish this badly needed facility to be able to help more dogs in need. Funds are needed to upfit this building with tile, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, kennel building materials, and doors and windows. Please help if you can.
