Tucked away in a quaint garden setting just two short blocks from the main street in Tulum the French Bakery La Casa del Buen Pan has been growing by leaps and bounds in the areas of prestige and popularity. Known to demand quality above anything else, the owners, Sliman and Titi Guechtal, will tempt your taste buds with their fresh baked goods and exquisite organic coffee. During the three plus years the bakery has been in existence, the decorative buildings, lush gardens, and fresh ideas have grown up around the consistency and quality of their baked goods. Titi explained that a majority of their breads come from ancient French recipes that have been given a Mexican twist to compensate for the climate as well as the available ingredients.
In addition to the ooey-gooey apple empanadas, moist banana bread, fruit tarts, “choco-holic” brownies, and the ever popular coconut macaroons that “will make even a non-coconut lover convert” (Lisa Willemsen- Newcastle, Maine), Titi has cooked up a few additional Holiday Specials that include a traditional French Yule Log Cake (Troncos Navideños in Spanish or Buches du Noël in French). Don’t forget the Mexican traditional Rosca de Reyes (Ring of Kings for Epiphany) to celebrate the festivities on January 6th! The plans for the future continue for Sliman and Titi, and as they inch closer and closer to finishing their 5 guest rooms, a private and sheik hotel will soon be added to their list of amazing accomplishments.
