|
![]() ‘Taste of Playa’ International Food Festival will be launching their 1st Annual Sampling on September 5, 2009 in Playa Del Carmen. Taste of Playa is a community oriented culinary event, celebrating the creativity and diverse cultural influences of chefs throughout the Riviera Maya and promoting the unique culinary perspectives that have contributed to the cosmopolitan reputation of Playa Del Carmen. Playa del Carmen is widely recognized as one of the top vacation destinations in the world. The city has gained this distinction by not only celebrating and maintaining the integrity of the Mexican heritage but also by embracing and incorporating the cultural influences brought by visitors from all over the world. ![]() Support from local businesses has already exceeded all expectations. Platinum Sponsors for Taste of Playa 2009 will be Buy Playa Real Estate Advisors and Bric International. LocoGringo.com, Luna Blue Hotel, One Stop Real Estate and The John Gray Group have also stepped up to the plate as Executive Chef Sponsors. The Glass Bar and Divino, Babe’s Noodle Bar, Cocina 38 and John Gray have already signed on as participating restaurants. “Business involvement in local events and economic health of the Mexican Caribbean coast is critical to the continuing success of the area.” says Taste of Playa Co-Chairperson Nicola Inwood “It is the creativity and enthusiasm of the local business owners coupled with the profound work of the State and Municipal Tourism Boards that have made Playa del Carmen what it is today. Their continued participation and realization of visions will continue to place Playa Del Carmen and all the surrounding cities on the tourism map as a desirable place to be.” Each year, a portion of the proceeds from Taste of Playa will be awarded to a regional non-profit food or clean water program. This year’s recipient is Ak Lu’um International School, a non-profit private learning institution in Playa del Carmen that integrates young students with physically and developmentally challenged children in a safe and inclusive learning environment with 36% of the student population awarded full scholarships. Funds raised by Taste of Playa 2009 will provide the school with clean, safe drinking water for students, teachers and volunteers. “We are proud to celebrate the chefs that have chosen Playa del Carmen as their creative base. This international collection of chefs, flavors and culinary inspiration is what has made Playa Del Carmen one of the most popular destinations in the world and our office fully supports it.” stated the President of Solidaridad, Roman Quian. This gourmet sampling will take place on September 5, 2009 from 3pm to 9pm in the newly renovated Parque Los Fundadores, just north of the Cozumel ferry dock. Entrance to the event is open to the public and completely free of charge.
